Both from rural South Australia, Kathryn Adams and Alexis Luke moved to Adelaide in 2015 where they began their training together at the Flinders University Drama Centre, and where they both graduated with honours in 2018. During this time, Kathryn and Alexis were able to develop their interest in physical theatre and devising through their relationship with Roz Hervey, Restless Dance Theatre and other emerging and established artists.

Inspired by the work and skills developed through their connection with some of the most skilled physical theatre artists in South Australia, Kathryn and Alexis were inspired to continue their own artistic partnership and encourage each other to continue exploring creatively through devising. It is important to both Alexis and Kathryn to continue to create work that creates open conversations about important issues that particularly affect adolescents and young adults. Thus the AlleyKat Collective was born.
